The first ever murder novel by Agatha Christie in which she introduces Hercole Poirot with his funny little mustache ,was inspired by a real life event which took place in Savoy Hotel , Mussoorie in Sept 1911.
An English woman called Francis Garrett was staying here with her friend called Eva Mount Stephens from Lucknow. Eva Stephen was an Occultist, she was into crystal grazing and other isoteric practices.
Now when Frances body was found, the door had to be broken in because ,it had been locked inside and a form of poison was found next to her bed.
